RE:trout jigs
Under a bobber. Vary the depth under your bobber until you find the right a zone that the fish are in.
If you wish to fish deeper. Try the drop shot technique and use a the dropper loop.
As with all jigs you can just cast them out "flylined" and jig them back, using the action of your rod tip to create movement.

RE:trout jigs
I would throw them on an ultra light rod and 4lb test. Rub them with krill scent. Cast as far as you can, give them the 5 - 10 second count down, then slowly reel back in and give them sort of a jigging motion.
Or, get on a dock and verically jig.
Another way is a slip bobber and 10' of line and jig them.
But try to save 1 of them for river fishing because those things look deadly for salmon

RE:trout jigs
I echo what gpc has just said.
Ulta Light rod and 2-4lb test. I like to use P-Line because it casts well and has great feel.

RE:trout jigs
For newly planted hatchery trout, I use the worst oldest moldiest smelliest bait I have. Like salmon eggs that have been sitting in my tackle box for a few years.
Just so I can use them up and get rid of them. The hatchery trout don't care.

RE:trout jigs
I'll do a step-by-step later today and post it in the homemade lures forum. Right now I need to fill out a job application and turn it in. Today is the last day to apply, and this job looks perfect for me -- non-corporate and close to home. The salary isn't great, but I learned the hard way that money isn't everything...Sam Kafelafish wrote:Can I get step by step ordering instructions?HillbillyGeek wrote:I make one similar to Kory's called the "spider jig". This one is 1/8 oz with a bronze VMC high-carbon hook. If anyone is interested, I can do a step-by-step of how to make it.
