I work Saturday, then have the next 7 days off so I hope to fish during the week and maybe miss some of the crowd. I'll fish Heart and Erie, maybe Lake Sixteen. I can't wait! I love this time of year. I would have gone to Cranberry Lake today but it was crummy out so I passed. With gas prices the way they are, I would rather fish on nice days if possible.

Unfortunately I'll be in Seatac for a respiratory conference from Friday to Tuesday so I'll be missing out on opening weekend :(

It seems like opening day crowds hit the same lakes ever year. I'm not sure how bad it gets in the greater metro area. Down south here. Bradley(year round) gets slammed on opening day. But I've been on Cushman and Riffe(both year round)opening day and had these lakes pretty much to myself. I guess it depends on how far your willing to drive if you want to fish opening day without getting a headache.

I agree with Kevinb. I often talk about fishing Cranberry Lake (open year round) and do so on and after the opener, because no one is ever there. The lake gets 7000+ RB a year (last year 10,000 browns about 8 inches each) and I often catch holdovers which run about 16 inches. As mentioned, this lake also holds abundant browns which I have heard run to 5 pounds. So it's a great alternative to an opening day lake. At Cranberry Lake when the water warms a bit, you can’t keep these trout off if you are trolling the right lure in the right spot which for me are both the same every year. See my reports for this lake if anyone is interested in specifics.
