triploids in cambell

Post by big fish lite line » Thu Apr 17, 2008 8:23 pm

well I'm taking a trip to cambell this weekend and I here they stocked it with triploids not too long ago.
can anyone confirm this?
I have yet to catch a triploid I tend to stay away from the heavily stocked lakes and I wondered what techniques or lures you would use for triploids?

by the way I won't use powerbait because I don't want to ruin my chances of hooking a holdover or cutthroat

thanks for any replies

What county is it in? They have the triploid stocking sheet with all the lakes didvided into countys and how many they get and what month they will get the trips. Its pretty easy to figure it once you get the hang of it. Just tell me what county I can find out for ya

Using powerbait dosn't kill your chances f catching a holdover or a cutt I have caught quite a few holdovers on the rainbow powerbait, and a few nice cutts to.

Natural baits seem to do good. It would also give you the chance at Cutts..They like that natural stuff. They won't get near PB.
I like bigger lures IF the stockers are giving you trouble while trolling.. Otherwise, I just troll normal size lures to have a chance at hooking planters all the way up to triploids. But if you can't keep stockers/small fish away...Just upsize your lures a little and you *should* find some nice fish on the trip...

If you are referring to Campbell in Skagit Co., last Apr-May they planted 1,292 triploids in there.

Found it, after I realized I didnt know what county campbel was in I figured it was time for me to do my homework. If its the campbel in Skagit county, then it is do for 608 trips between now and may. It hasnt got then yet, but on the 14th it did get 350 1.50 fish per pound rainbows. The fish per pound thing is kind of a joke, but it means .75 lbs a piece. Any day now they will get more than 1/2 their triploids

Big Fish Lite Line,

I read your post, nice job at Campbell Lake! Where on the lake did you catch your fish? It's a big lake so directions from the launch would be helpful and much appreciated if you are willing. Maybe water depth though you said you were close to the lily pads so I'm guessing it wasn't very deep. I have always driven past Campbell on my way to Heart, Erie, Pass, and Cranberry mainly because Campbell is a big lake making the trout a challenge to find if you don’t know where to look, and it's often a powerboat magnet when it warms a bit. Thanks for the info.

thanks man!

I'm not sure if The location is that important because they seam to be schooling, but once you find them they are not hard to catch.

1. follow the shoreline left of the boat launch (east)
2. about 2/3 down the shoreline in front of a large house with a dock and a perfect grass lawn that goes all the way to the water.

I'm not sure about the water depth but I think it was around 5-8 feet the major thjing is that we were only 10 feet from the lily pads.

we found pink powerbait with 4 feet of leader to work the best but #1 spinners were much better at locating the fish

good luck and don't forget to tell me what you catch

Big Fish Lite Line,

Thanks for the reply and the info. I was thinking about making a run to Cranberry today and might just stop at Campbell now thanks to you. I appreciate the info and if I go today, I’ll post my results as usual, and will give you a heads up. Thanks again.
