RE:Somethin' fishy........
Alright this is pretty straight forward. Lake Alice is stained dark brown and has an algae bloom at the current time. The fish is not from Lake Alice...lol. The fish is clearly from Alaskan waters where it was caught and properly released. There is no need to contact the member as I'm sure he knows himself the report is bogus. The largest fish I've caught out of Alice was 17" way back in 1999. Remember, there are a lot of phony reports posted everyday, everywhere, and sometimes it's fun just to go with it, rather than getting all worked up about it. It's clearly very humorous and awesome, because I know where that fish was caught, and every other little detail. Relax, crack a cold one, and just know it didn't come from Lake Alice. That lake is lucky to put out a 14" fish, honestly. I got a good laugh from it, but just let it slide under and let it be. Contacting the member and getting all riled up is not appropriate in this case. If Lake Alice put out fish like that, I'd be there every day, skipping all my successful outings on Lake Washington...that's just my .02, take it for what it is. I know the guy

Rob G., cant get nothing past you man lol. All of his pictures of fish look like that fish. So this means all of his reports are bogus then? So we cant take any of his reports serious, ok at least we know. Somebody needs to get out on the water

The bad part about is then it brings into question the value of the site. if you ask me id degrades the quality because if you start doubting a lot of the reports then would that not then start to devalue the remainder because you then cant tell if a report is fake or not?kutthroatkilla wrote:Alright this is pretty straight forward. I definitely appreciate and value the reports everyone posts and they sometimes hold weight with me when deciding what lake to fish. If someone is posting a bogus report, it could impact the readers in a negative light. With gas prices the way they are today, I would hate to make a run to a lake based on someone’s awesome report, just to find the fishing was poor. I get that the fishing bite can change anytime but I would be upset if I made my decision to go to a lake based on a report that I later found out was bogus. Just my take on the topic

That is true, but in this case put 1 and 1 together and you know it's false...but I see your point Dave. All my reports have been 100% authentic and real, which I know help a lot of people. I do hope readers and members alike submit "truthful" reports or at least their motives are in the right place, ah yes, motives, that's where it all balances. Even if that fish was caught up there, that's a ton of money in gas from any locale around Seattle.Dave wrote:I made my decision to go to a lake based on a report that I later found out was bogus.

Dave, ruthven78 nicely put guys. I also use these reports as one of my top refrences while choosing a lake. I guess it just goes to show that you cant believe everything you read. I would have thought that members on this site would have been above and beyond posting phoney reports, most people on this site are genuine guys and post factual reports, so I will not let it discourage me. And I dont care how funny some people might find it to be, fisherman do stretch the truth (ALL fisherman strtch the truth at 1 point or another, thats just a part of fishing) but fisherman dont straight up LIE

I dont stretch the truth about my fishes sizes.I just outright lie.Muahaha.On a serious note.I remember years ago in the Seattle times there would be a fishing report printed up.On the next page was an add for Big Five or Pay n' Save on the fishing gear used in that same article.I find most reports have something to do with economics.F& H News was the same.I do like the reports in WL.COM best out of any of the other fishing sites.Y'all seem to give honest reports.Thats why I'm happy to say this is where I call home. Good luck to all.

How dare you question the value of this site, and just because of a few mistruths, the next thing you will tell me is that "Fishing and Hunting News" tells little white lies and they can't be trusted either.ruthven78 wrote:The bad part about is then it brings into question the value of the site. if you ask me id degrades the quality because if you start doubting a lot of the reports then would that not then start to devalue the remainder because you then cant tell if a report is fake or not?kutthroatkilla wrote:Alright this is pretty straight forward. RE:Somethin' fishy........
A side note to all of this. You will notice that I don't use my real name in any form on this forum. I don't use it on any forum.
It is not because I am afraid to be found on the Internet, if you had my name you could find me on the Internet anyway. You can't do the work I do without finding yourself on "big brother".
The reason I don't use my real name is because it provides no incentive to lie, or expand on the truth, of did you say stretch it a little. I hope that others would see that if offers no incentive to lie; after all, how many of you would know me if you saw me on the street, so where is the glory.
On the other hand, I don't always tell all of the truth.
I will give some lakes a 3 when they might deserve a 4 or 5. After all, maybe that day I had unrealistic expectations of success and I did not get it (LOL).
The bigger the body of water, the more likely I am to judge the lake fairly. I may want people to know that a small body of water is fishing well, but telling you that the fish are jumping into the boat on a body of water that is 20 to 100 acres only gets a thousand of my closest friends to show up next weekend.
Take for example, Rock Lake in Whitman County. It is a big enough lake, and I don't mind telling it how it is. But, if you saw the crowds at the only public access the last time I was there you would scratch your head and wonder if I had reported a little to often, and a little to accurate.

LOL. Shouldn't this report be deleted from the database Aaron/Mike? If it is truly not accurate, then it should be wiped clean. Not telling the truth is cardinal sin #1 in my book when it comes to fishing. If you didn't catch an 6 pound rainbow out of Alice and you go ahead and post a report showing a fish you caught somewhere else, the report should be removed. I don't think the member should be banned or chastized, but I do think a verbal warning would be enough from a Mod. His secret lake report looks a lot like the Alice Report (Fiddle or whatever it was under secret lakes section)...we just don't want false reports circulating around, because other members do fish based off these reports...trust me. I know my reports have caught the attention of OE, The Tacoma News Tribune and the Seattle Times. I think it would be most prudent to remove the report...I found it funny at first, but now I'm tired of talking about it.Anglinarcher wrote: How dare you question the value of this site, and just because of a few mistruths, the next thing you will tell me is that "Fishing and Hunting News" tells little white lies and they can't be trusted either.

That's a good point. If you googled your handle on WL.com into google, you'll be surprised at what pops up. The power of the internet is incredible.Anglinarcher wrote:A side note to all of this. You will notice that I don't use my real name in any form on this forum. I don't use it on any forum.
