good day fishing

Post by JT26 » Sun Jul 29, 2007 12:08 am

Erlier today, i had the choice of going to phantom lake or trying out Kelsey Creek for the first time, so i tried kelsey creek. i searched for parts with large pools, and parts that the water eroded and land went over. i casted a small night crawler upstream and let it drift down and instantly had bites in almost all the spots i tried. I only landed one though, it was about the same size as a small stocked trout, but fought alot better. Released it, not sure if it was legal, but i did use barbless hooks, and tried to limit touching.
Fishing again tomorow morning.

that's awesome. Where is Kelsey Creek, and mind sharing one of your spots? Also, what hardware/setup did you use?

JT, just checked the regs. You are allowed to keep 5 and dont have to pinch your barbs. Its just like fishing any other lake for trout. Oh yeah make sure to take advantage of the juvenile lakes while you still can. I dont know about this creek, but I know they like to plant these places w/ huge fish. Alot of 10lb brood stock get dumped into these places right before they know the fish is going to die of old age, might as well have a kid catch it then die in the hatchery. I know you just moved, but the old fishing hole in kent kicks out some pretty nice fish from time to time as well. And a little farther north of you is Giseburg ponds, one is juvenile and one is regular, but this is also a good juvenile lake.

Thanks. I wonder if the fish are clean? The water is a little muddy, but cold and runs fast...
