Musky guy trout fishing at Mineral

Post by kevinb » Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:30 pm

Taking a brief break from the tiger musky fishing and taking the family down to Mineral for some brown/rainbow trout fishing. I havn't fished this lake in at least 15 years or more but I always hear good things and its hard to ignore. Not trying to get any secret info but looking for a good starting point in terms of lure/bait choice. Any tips are appreciated

You can troll and catch a million little guys or drop a worm to the bottom out in the middle and maybe catch a big hungry guy. I would also suggest trolling a 3-4 inch Rapala at day break and at sunset around the edges. Worm the rest of the day if you want some size.

Thanks Bodofish,I appreciate the information. Going through the stocking history and fishing reports,I'm curious,is there a difference between a brown trout and a german brown?

Same, same and there are some big ones in there, eating stocker trout size big ones. I've seen them cruising the far end from the boat launch looking for hapless planters...... I casted right to them but they wouldn't bite mid day. If it weren't for all the logs I'd troll a big Rapala in rbt just at first light or at dusk.

Thanks again Bodo! Is color a major factor for the Rapalas? I have a large collection but many are a bass and even northern pike patterns/colors.
