Kitsap Lake Trout

Post by Ball_Gawd » Wed Feb 12, 2014 5:30 pm

In January I caught three trout in Kitsap Lake that had some odd "blood" colored lesions on them (see my January 18 Kitsap Lake report). I got in touch with WDFW. Since I had frozen the specimens (newbie error) the pathologists weren't really able to do much with the fish. I've spoken with Mark (WDFW Kitsap Area Biologist) and he encourages us to call him anytime we see something unusual with our fish we catch in our lakes. He seems to be a really nice guy who really cares about his job and our lakes. His cell# is 360-202-7005. If you catch one of these trout, try to keep them alive and give him a call. He will make arrangements for someone to pick up the fish from you.

Side note: He and WDFW do really look at our reports to get a barometer on how the lakes are. So keep up the good work guys and gals!
