Getting ready for my week long foray to Chelan and I have been keeping a close eye on the weather. I am going to be running in a 12' Smokercraft Alaskan with a 15 hp honda. There seems to be a forecast for breezy conditions through Monday. Is this common for Chelan area? They always forecast wind because of the location? I know that lake can get nasty. Had friends that got stuck uplake for two days. Guess i am just trying to keep my hopes up..

Pretty regular. You should be fine in your boat. Stay away from uplake, unless you are camping up there, there are plenty of fish in the lower basin to be had. Breezes come and go up there, 7mph winds are not bad, when you start looking at 15-20mph gusts, then things start changing. Usually early morning is calm, then wind usually picks up, then calms down again in the evening. What I have been seeing for the weather, things look great for Saturday so far...

The typical wind patterns are calm mornings, or sometimes a slight AM wind that calms down mid-morning, and then around 1pm the winds may pick up, lasting to the evening. Sometimes evening is very fish-able and can be a good bite.
Bottom line, you should be fine for morning fishing, and then if the wind starts to pick up just fish Mills Bay area so you can run in quick if you have to.
The lake can be dangerously white capping in strong winds, but I haven't seen that in the forecast at all.
Saturday says 7mph, gusts to 12, NNW. That could be a bit lumpy as the day progresses. Not as bad as last year I don't think.
