Leaders w/a Kastmaster lure

Hello!

Just joined NWFR and the forums today specifically so I could ask the following question. My apologies if I am not asking the question in the right group or if it’s been asked and answered before.

So...I am seeing that it is better in certain situations such as with a Kastmaster lure to tie the lure directly to the line not using a leader nor a snap swivel as it allows for better movement of the lure. I was wondering if, say, tying a 1’-3’ leader directly to a Kastmaster with a loop (or barrel swivel) on the opposite end that then clips onto a snap swivel is an option?

TIA for your replies

I add a small barrel swivel to the front splitring on all my kastmasters to help prevent line twist...then I figured out a surgeon loop on my main line made it easy to swap them out. I pretty much do the same thing with with all my trout size spoons and spinners.

But to your point. I don't use leaders on my lures unless there's a specific need. Such as trolling or plunking in a river.
