Lake Trout Following Downrigger Ball? Fishfinder Display

Post by DaytonaJoe » Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:48 am

New to fishing from boats. Spent the day on Deer Lake in eastern WA yesterday, handful of times we saw what I'm thinking might have been fish checking out our downrigger lead. In the attached images you can see the downrigger ball as the straight line, and what I think is the fish coming up from beneath then fading away.

Is that what this is? Thanks!

If I see that on the graph with no bites I start switching out gear and scents. Doesn’t always work but can turn those investigations into bites. A lot of the time they’re checking out your offering and aren’t biting for some reason.
