The rainbows are easy to catch with either worms or powerbait. I prefer to use worms under a bobber in the spring time. In about April-June you cannot miss with that recipe. I think the new hatchery rainbows are happy to take your powerbait. but the trips. and holdovers like the worms at least for me.
Gringo Pescidor caught a nice Brown trout from using a inflated worm off the bottom. (correct me if I'm wrong gringo)
I will be going to Green lake soon again, now that it has cooled off for the year. i'll let you know.

Best bet is to cover water with a boat/canoe using wedding rings or dick nites.

I agree with Kzoo, if you can get out on the water and do a slow troll you will definately have better luck. My best luck (like Quad said) has been with just an air-filled nitecrawler on a 2 to 3' leader and an 1/8 egg weight on the mainline. I cast it from my canoe, then start rowing just fast enough to bounce the weight along the bottom. If you rig the worm right, it will have a little spin to it as it goes through the water. The area that has served me best is along the boueys straight out from the island (between the island and the south side of the lake).
