any decent lakes withing a hour-ish of wsu?

Post by ingi » Mon Apr 12, 2010 6:40 pm

Does anybody know of any good lakes in eastern washington. I go to WSU and me and friends are usually willing to go about a hour to hour and a half away. Just trying to find some good lakes for fishing from the banks. We went to rock lake today. we caugt and released 8 trout, 6 rainbows and 2 browns they were all pretty small biggest was maybed 12'. I got lucky i think and caught about a 3.5 smallmouth with a vibrafox. I would love to go back to this lake but there was a whole lot of snags just about everywhere that we casted. Does anyone know of any lakes within a hour and a half of WSU?

You might want to try the Snake River, I never fished it while I was up there the last few years but I'm sure there's some smallmouth, catfish, and other fish in there.

Almota has allways been good for Smallmouth but there are good numbers of cat fish down there as well.
Try down by the grain elevators.

You also may want to keep Chapman lake in mind.

If it's lake fishing your after, you'll probably have to go to Spokane or Lincoln counties. Whitman is kind of sparse as far as lakes. Maybe Rock Lake.
Where you go is less important than how you get there.

Monday we went to rock lake. there was a lots of trout rising, we caught and released a handful of trout. I would have no problem with that spot but there was an incredible amount of snags. I caught a 3-4 lb smallmouth bass also on a mepps red and white spinner also, but between me and 2 other friends we must have snagged up about 15 times, became a expensive trip as far as lost gear. Thanks for the input all of you
