any one checked out or used these new hooks from Mustad? They are all bent up but give a great swirling presntation of a night crwaler. I was watching "The Next Bite" on OLN, and these guys were hammering the walleye with these hooks. Here is the link to their web site...

Very interesting... :-k

I always try to rig my baits so they hang straight. Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong! [-x

I cant wait to try these hooks out. They have commercials just on these hooks, on OLN as well. They even sound mean.

I knew they looked familiar. This was brought up a couple months back.
Great idea and cool hooks.
Here is the old post. Ask GeryG how he has done with them.

If you want to use them I say go for it. A guy a while back was trying to sell them to me telling me all about the guys on tv that were hammering walleyes with them.

Has anyone ever watched a tv show where they were selling a fish product and they werent hammering fish? Thats all advertising and I really never pay any attention to it. They are trying to sell these shak-e blades now as well and my stance on these new products is always the same.

WHEN I STOP CATCHING FISH WITH WHAT IS IN MY TACKLE BOX, I WILL BUY NEW STUFF.

Think about it. My dad has been using white and yellow mister twisters since I was old enough to walk. he still uses them and still catches fish. Walleyes, Pike, Crappies, Bluegills, Perch, he catches them all. He trolls with the same lure he always trolled with. a Black/Silver CD7 Rapala. Guy still catches fish.

Im not telling anyone not to buy these hooks and that all of them arent going to catch fish. If you do choose to go that route, I hope you catch limits of fish with them. But does anyone agree with me that they are getting carried away with lures and hooks anymore? "Gulp outfishes live bait." No it doesn't, not over the long haul. Sure there will be days where it works better, but most of the time you are far better off with live bait. However, Berkely don't make much off people buying night crawlers now do they. To each his own though.

Good fishing.

Joe

You should never limit your techniques! I have always caught fish but the more I tweak my fishing the better the results!
There are times when I am drifting night crawlers off the bottom and this will be a good tweak for that style!

If its on TV, I avoid it! Flying Lure, Helicopter Lure, Roland Martins Bazooka Fisking "System", Color-C-Lector, etc

I avoid gimmicks, not just in fishing.

The Bazooka, I can't believe he endorses that....I guess its money in the bank.
I should buy it and go sturgeon fishing:-"

Well Hal made it catch fish on Lake of the Woods. I don't think that thing ever did catch a fish in the glorious state of Washington though.

Have you had the boat out on the Rainy River since January? Ha

if you use a lure/bait long enough you will catch fish. fish will even take a plain hook if its in front of their nose. or if you fish lakes where the big fish are tring to eat other big fish.
