im looking for a place to drown a worm for perch since i have a three day weekend. i live in the tri cities and not looking for more than an hour drive max. just wondering if anybody has some suggestions for franklin county or lower grant county. not set up for ice fishing, so i would need some bank access. im new to the perch game and just dont know which lakes hold them.

man I would love to help you out but I live up in East Wenatchee and I dont really know anything about down by you... eventhough I love to catch perch, and I feel I am pretty good at it! shoot that is a real bummer... everything up my way is still frozen except for Lake Chelan and the rivers... ha. and of course no perch in them.... I dont think potholes and moses lake have thawed yet either.... thats about as far south as I know anything about... wish I could help more!! let me know if I can help ya with anything else!!

anybody know if there is much open water on scootney yet?

Just about every lake in the state has perch in it. Mostly yellow perch and they are really good to eat if they are big enough. When ever fishing gets slow that's what I go for. I live on the west side but have fished a lot on the east side . I usually use a 1/8 oz jig head with any color plastic grub with a small spoon spinner. Mister twister is a good one Just cast and reel. Go a little deeper this time of year. 10 -30 feet.

my fav is to cast a 3/8 sinker with 1 foot to 18 inches of leader and pull in 4 foot intervals the perch go nuts that way

The big question you had is where. IS Moses Lake too far? Under the I-90 bridge, if the ice is off, it should start to get pretty hot for a while. After the Spawn, they will be hard to find there. I see people fishing from off the bridge there often as I drive through, so there is your bank access.

ok, so for the CURRENT weather around the columbia basin (overcast skies, temps in the high 50's) how deep would you have a worm for perch. on the bottom? a couple feet off the bottom? a couple feet under the surface? i might be getting some perch fishing in tomorrow and am starting to plan what i would need to bring.

I would say the best bet is to stay within one or two feet off the bottom.... perch are bottom guys just like walleye...
