Northwest Fishing Reports

Today is the last day you can fish lot's of the lowland lakes (well, Western WA I know for sure, not sure about Eastern). Knowing this, I started to map out the lakes that are open year round (or don't have a "season"). I've used the "collection" feature of Maps.live.com (used to be local.live.com). Right now all I have is Snohomish County and a few in North King County. If theres any interest at all, I'll add other lakes.

In Kitsap County I know Kitsap Lake and Island Lake are open year around.Island Lake doesn't allow any kind of gas powered motors.

Great link, and thanks. I would definitely be interested in seeing what other lakes are year round. While we could browse through the regs, your map is much better. Also, last time I checked, Green Lake was a year round lake.

Cowlitz County: Silver Lake & Kress Lake

Clark County: Lacamas Lake, Round Lake, Vancouver Lake, and i think Battle Ground Lake

American lake and Spanaway Lake in Pierce county I believe are year around lakes

I like the map feature better than going back and forth between the regs and maps. I'd love to see Pierce, lewis, and thurston counties added. :cyclopsan

It'd be cool if the WDFW had their regs online simular to this site. :bounce: Or at least offered an API for guys like Mike and Aaron to utilize that would give them online access to the current regs for specific bodies of water.

Yes, Battle Ground Lake is year round. Also Merwin (Lake) Reservoir and Yale Reservoir. Horseshoe Lake in Woodland is open all year.

BTW, has anyone fished Sacajawea with any success? I tried last year and me and the fish were hanging out in different places I think!

I use a much simpler method. I look in the regs booklet... if the lake is not listed there, it is by definition open year round. For lakes that are listed in the regs booklet, the special rules will state the specific open season.

Don't forget Beaver lake (King County) for all the guys in the seattle/eastside area...

Be careful. You're going to get in trouble. If a lake is not listed, it is a regular season lake. It will tell you if the lake is year round. If I was to use your method, I'd end up fishing Pine Lake (King Co) tommorow. Illegal.

Yes, but Beaver Lake (year round) is in the regs too. Nothing special about the fish, but the season. October 31 is regular closing time (I think?), so it might be because of the fish regs.

I read the regs the same as Shad..

Page 32, Statewide Freshwater Rules
"The following rules and seasons apply unless listed otherwise in the Special Rules."
"LAKES, PONDS, AND RESERVOIRS are open to fishing for game fish (except DOLLY VARDEN/BULL TROUT and GRASS CARP) year-round."

Are we missing something somewhere else that says otherwise?

A list of all the year-round lakes will be quite extensive; it would include well over just 3,000 "lakes" in just Western Washington.

Perhaps a more useful list would those waters that are year-round and have public access. To start such a list a great palce to start would on pages 72 and 97 in the sport fishing regulations pamphlet. There you find a list of the lakes not listed in the special rules section that have access. To flesh out that list all you need to do is quickly thumb through the special rules section for both Western and Eastern Washington and viola you'll have a list of the lakes (with county) with accesses.

Should more than enough waters to keep one busy until next spring.

i believe every reservoir in the state of Washington is year round, so you can add all of them.

At least on the West side of the State there are some reseviors that are on some sort of seasons; Baker, Shannon, Ross and Spada immmediately come to mind.
