LAKE BERRYESSA WILL BE FULL! BY END OF THE MONTH!
only 5 feet to go.
The lake is well beyond 60% capacity and the dissolved oxygen is normal or above and plentiful now that the lake is full which will support millions of plants. Our science shows and indicates that to have fisheries once again as we have had in the past best in state for Kokanee that 300K plants will be necessary to provide such a fishery again. This may be on the low side depending on the predation increase that this lake has produced over the past 5 years. 7th best Bass lake in the country says Bass Masters. From 100th in 5 years. We think that 300K is where to start and see. This is a trial and error fishery but believe 300K is a good starting point. We may need 600K next spring just depending on the predation.
LAKE BERRYESSA NEEDS to be PRIORITY #1 with CDFW Kyle Murphy for all plants and all recovery. Berry needs to be planted to MAX capacity of 300K before any other lake gets one plant. Only after Berry is planted to MAX should any other lake get any plants. Why U ask DEMOGRAPHICS.
THE NEEDS OF THE MANY OUTWEIGHS THE NEEDS OF THE FEW!.

Yes right in the backyard of where my 2 of my brothers live and my mom in Napa!! It also holds some nice land locked chinook! Always wanted to fish it on one of my many trips down there- maybe next trip will hook up with a guide and pry the newly risen waters!

Just for your information, in case you don't know, this web site is in Washington State.
And yes I have fished Berryessa many years ago when I lived in Oroville in the sixties. ![BigGrin [biggrin]](./images/smilies/msp_biggrin.gif)

With all the weather in Cali this year it will be intersting to see what happens with the reservoirs and fishing. I lived in SoCal for 25 years and the renewal assosiated with these storms was incredible. With the rain and heavy coastal stream flows, steelhead actually make their way into usually dry streambeds.
One weekend during a big storm we were surfing the storm surge at a break called Tressles. We had parked the rig's just east of I-5 in South San Clemente and we were hiking along a creek to the beach with our boards. I stopped dead in my tracks when I thought I saw a steelhead in the creek. With my friends thinking I was nuts and not knowing what a steelhead was I put the board down and went down to check it out. After some scrambling and scratched up legs I had counted 5 steelhead that were maybe 2-5 pounds. It was amazing, these 5 fish (maybe more), were just waiting around in the salt for the rain and increased flows, how many more were out there?
