Anybody familiar w/fishing Kettle Falls/Roosevelt?

Post by The Quadfather » Thu Jul 16, 2020 5:25 pm

OK, so I am building a little trip over to Roosevelt next month.
I can find plenty of Intel/reports on the lower areas of Roosevelt, but my best lodging option is in Kettle Falls. It looks a little to me like that upper river area is more my kind of thing.. LOW jet ski/water ski count, and just very scenic. (But if I wind up Fort Spokane/Two Rivers Casino area, that’s fine as well.

Just was hoping to hear from anybody who fishes that upper Kettle Falls area. We are targeting Kokanee, Walleye, rainbows, and maybe even some smallmouth.

send me a PM if you like

We fished out of Kettle Falls National Park last Thursday. We boated up to Evans and trolled for walleye all the back to the park, we fished both sides of the rive, six hours and only one bite, no hook up. Any water less than 30' deep was filled with milfoil and moss. We have a sturgeon trip booked with Washington Guide Service 8/15 out of Kettle Falls we may tow the boat up with us and try walleye again 8/14 and 8/16 at Fort Spokane. We talked with the fish checker at the Kettle Falls boat launch he said all fishing has been really slow.

Hewesbob, Thank you SO much for timely, spot on information.

I’m just so excited to see this area. I am pretty well versed in most of the state, and I’ve watched so many Roosevelt reports fly by.

Bummer to hear you say it was super slow, as well as fish checker confirms same thing. Walleye are new to us, so prob struggle a bit there, but hopefully our smallmouth , Kokanee, amd General trout trolling skills will help.

Does it seem a little strange that the 30’ and shallower was so weedy by Mid July? I mean, we have not had much in warm temps.

Maybe I will need to bring the slow cooker, and expect to do some other meal planning.
