Potholes boat ramps - suitable for launching with 2 wd Toyota SUV?

Post by Firetiger » Sat May 10, 2008 5:44 pm

Heading to the Potholes, prefer not to take Ford Ranger (sucks gas). Will I have any problems at any of the Potholes ramps launching 15' Smokercraft with a 2 wd Toyota Previa?

Any word on how the bass fishing is?

If you are talking about the main reservoir than I do not think you would have any problems,if you are talking about the other lakes around then it would depend on which lake. Go to the main page and click on links. There is a link to boat ramps in the state and they give some useful info.

Two tournaments on the resevoir this weekend, both had to cancel day 2 due to wind. Word is the ABA was won with 21 lbs of smallies, and a club tourney was at almost 16lbs with a mixed bag. Water temps were 62 in the dunes and colder in the main lake. I'm sure that the ramps would be just fine. I know there is a ramp on the other side of the dam at the end of the lake that has a nice gentle launch. within a few minutes of mardon. Best of luck. Don't forget to post a report, skunk or not!

The main lind coulee launch, the state park, those launchs are perfect. Any 2wd could launch a boat out of them. I had to back in a little farther than normal at lind coulee but its no sweat. Fishing was kinda tough last saturday. If you were planning a trip, I'd say this weekend would be perfect. I have not been known to get it done at Potholes in May, and I was under the weather the last 5 days, but I think you can do well.
