I like composite or aluminum props for a very specific reason:

LESS DAMAGE.

You will stand a FAR greater chance of breaking things like shear pins, bearings, gears, bushings, and engine parts with stainless. Yes, they give more performance, but at the cost of dangerous failures. If you hit something as innocuous as a stick or log in the water, an alu prop will fold up like a taco and take the damage. Keep a spare in the boat and you are off in a jiffy. Bang that same log with a stainless prop and have it bind into the cav plate? Goodbye cav plate. It is a good power transmitter, regardless of how and to what you are transmitting it to.

Here ya go real world published testing. Not to mention a pretty good article on props.
I don't know about anybody else but to me a second difference getting to speed doesn't really justify jumping out and buying a $500 to $1500 prop. Especially when we're talking speeds under sixty mph and the risk of damaging more expensive parts.

well since Im still here rolling my pennies Ill probably be runnin with the stock for at least the next couple of seasons. I will say though that my current 150 does have a stainless that has worked great. and when your boat is loaded with gear, people, and fish nothing sucks more than not being able to jump up on step.

Well, Swede was right about the weather so I finally got out today. Not to fish but at least to run the motor and check it out. What can I say? Well... I am definately NOT disapointed! So far Im very impressed, this thing is super quiet, and has great power. You wouldnt think that one 150 hp would be very different from another but it defenately is. Well, fishing tomorow, still havnt decide if point no point or seabeck guess Ill know when I get there.
