i couldn't remember how to tie an anchor knot for my new anchor, so i started googling for nautical knots. i found this page, which was cool because the illustrations were animated.
thought i'd share it so none of you would lose an anchor or worse -- a boat -- to a poorly tied quadruple granny knot with a half-hitch twist.
enjoy!

Here's another good
source. It also has fishing knots. I ordered their plastic flip charts and keep the "nautical knots" version in the glove box on the boat and the fishing version in my tackle box. Nice to have when you don't regularly tie a wide variety of knots.

Great thread and an awesome idea. I have used the site TroutCowboy posted and have found it to be very helpful. hewesfisher - your link keeps coming up dead for me but I figured out the site and that place has some cool stuff. http://www.netknots.com
Hopefully the Supreme Overlords can incorperate or create an all inclusive knot tying section to this site. Definitely something we all need to know and trust me, you can never know how to tie enough knots.
I give this thread :thumleft: :thumleft: :smurf:
(two thumbs up and a smurf)
Let's try to post up some of the more popular knots in this thread so others can see without having to follow the link.
