Northwest Fishing Reports

Wondering what others run, I've run red sta-bil without issues but am switching to the green marine sta-bil ,does anyone know of something they think is better? Someone recomended the Mercury additive but I know nothing about it. I'm running a 4 h.p., 4 stroke tohatsu engine.Also, does anyone knoe the availability of non-ethanol gas for marine use?Maybe at a marina like zittels or at Swantown in Oly.? Bob R

I use the blue Ethanol version. I even put in some of the red version too in the same tank....

I drain the tank at the end of the year though and use it in the truck. I'll rather not let the gas sitting 5 months.

I didn't know of a blue, but I know that sta-bil has a red and a green formula, the green is called Marine green. Ditto on fresh gas, thanks for link on ethenol free gas! Bob R

I use the blue formula which says "Ethanol Treatment" on the front of the package. I have also used the normal red formula with good success. All I know is that is you DON'T put sta-bil in your tank on every fill up, expect to be stranded without a start within a month or two of frequent boat use.

The green is geared more to the marine environment. More stabilizers and emulsifiers and lube. I've been using the green since my boat was new and have seen no adverse effects on any rubber in the fuel system or corrosion. Use it every fill and pump it up a bit in the winter.

Star*Tron is another very good fuel stabilizer and one recommended to me by my Mercury dealer. I use Merc additives since my motors are still under warranty. Sta-Bil will keep your fuel fresh for up to 12 months.

Like Matt, I add the proper amount every time I fill up and run them year round. :thumright
