Northwest Fishing Reports

My brother and I just bought this 17' Smokercraft today.
60 hp Johnson, 6 hp evinrude, livewell, LOTS of storage, the seats can be moved to 5 different locations, canvas.
Needs a new GPS/ sonar, I think the one on it is older than I am. Looking at the lowrance M68CS.
Look out RUFUS we will be back out on the water and not the bank in less than a month.

Yes, have fun at Rufus. I would echo to the people that posted their boat to be careful and not post the numbers on your boat for ID theft reasons, and many times the boat gives away the background and theives know where to go - I might be going a little "overboard' here, but I do know of someone who posted pictures of their boat on Cragislist and it was nabbed from their backyard in the night because they recognized the boat and its recognized its surrounding. I'm just trying to save people some heartache and pain...cause this information is available to the worth world, that why it's called the world-wide web, not county-wide, lol.

Congrats on the new baby!!!! Its an incredible feeling that only a boat owner truly understands.

Your not towing with the motor trimmed down are ya? Lower units can get very expensive.

kuttkilla- Thanks for the heads up on the numbers thing. No worry, this boat is so far out in the sticks nobody could ID the surroundings and my brother packs a .45 semi fully loaded- legally.

Skeeter- Nope trimmed up for towing, down to test run the motor. Did a compression test before we bought it, but the gas was so old we didn't want to start the motor until we could get some new gas for it.
Purrs like a kitten, ok roars like a lion out of the water with water muffs on.

Nice boat, but that trailer seems too small for the boat? It looks like you could slide the front winch assy forward a few inches at least.

Headed back to Rufus the middle of April. We will let the walleyes and the triploids battle over who gets to eat the bait.

Hey kevinb, we are going to launch the boat for a test run at Lake Tapps next Sunday, is there enough water at the ramp? I saw you were just there so your the man to ask.

Awesome boat Bill! I'm surprised that you don't want a trolling motor for it. They come in handy when you're sneaking up on fish in Lakes or backtrolling in rivers...

Water level is good,still not full yet.The North Tapps Park launch is the way to go. DON"T GO TO ALLAN YORKE.
Be carful when dropping and picking up your boat. There is hole in the spot where your trailer will be in the water. Some boaters have gotten their trailers stuck. Use caution if you intend on working your boat with'in 20 yards of the shorline. Certain spots(especially DIKE 3,4 and 6) have bad stumps and underwater logs not easily visable.
You should be fine,just giving you a headsup. And as always,watch out for fast,careless boaters that Tapps is known for.

You should do well at Rufus in April, northfork. Best of luck to you and I hope the new boat performs top notch in your pursuit of the big fish! Maybe a 15 pounder is store for you guys! Who knows...good luck guys!

KK- need to top the 13#er I got last year from shore. We have put in just over $1000 in upgrades since we bought the BOAT (Break Out Another Thousand).
Just rewired most of the mickey mouse wiring, 1 new battery, battery switch and waiting on the new Eagle Fishelite 480 to arrive so it can be mounted before sea trials on next Sunday.

kevinb- Thanks for the heads up the Allen Yorke launch. We will probably look like the fast careless boaters on Sunday. Got to see what the Johnson 60hp has got or not.

Hey northfork. Not sure if 'ya heard or saw kk's thread about the weather. Are you still planning on hitt'n Tapps.
Who knows,might be able to do ice fishing in March.

My brother lives down south( i'm in Sultan) and he still has snow in his yard.
Probably pass on this weekend. The new fishfinder/GPS hasn't shown up yet, maybe tomorrow.
Will come down the following weekend, install the new fishfinder, battery and do some wiring modifications and THEN take the boat for a spin.
Headed to Rufus the 18th of April so everything has got to be in order by then. Oh Ya and new licenses Wa state and Colville reservation.

Just bought my annual three days ago. Cumberland...a town down south, well south of Sultan received 10" of snow last night and another 3" in store for tonight...amazing! I'm in N. Bothell so we're bracing for 1-2" not that bad, but I won't be fishing until Sunday or even Monday...
