RE:Need help choosing a boat
I love Livingston boats. I'd go with the Livingston, but I'd have to see some pictures and inspect the hull. Can you upload any photos of the two boats you are considering purchasing? The 12-foot Jon boat might require a trailor, not sure if you'd be towing it around or not...the 9 footer might fit in the back on a larger truck...fishingmachine wrote:Okay so i found a 12 foot jon and a 9ft livingston on CL and was wondering what you guys thought would be a better choice

Just my personal preferance but I think the 12' aluminum would be better for you.
RE:Need help choosing a boat
i think the jon is too big to fit on top of your moms truck thing i saw. You would need a trailer.
That livingston is also a great boat.

JT brings up a good point. How are you going to haul your boat?

Your Mom would probably prefer it to be on top of the rig. Either boat will fit on top, just make sure it's tied down good. I saw a guy lose one off his car one time. It wasn't pretty. Didn't do the boat much good either.
The big question is which one would you be happier with?

RE:Need help choosing a boat
Kuttkilla can i get your input on the two boats on what u think would be better
RE:Need help choosing a boat
After seeing the two ads, the pictures, the details, et al., I would go with the Jon boat. However, I think you would need a trailor and a motor for the boat. I trailor would be nice and a 15 HP 2-Stroke motor would be sweet. Even if you don't do this; go with the Jon boat and attach an electric trolling motor...it is a much more solid boat for you...that's my 2 cents.fishingmachine wrote:Kuttkilla can i get your input on the two boats on what u think would be better

RE:Need help choosing a boat
and if you get that jon, my dad has a 95 or 96 Yamaha 9.9 4stroke and he may be willing to give it up. dont get your hopes up though...

RE:Need help choosing a boat
oh if he wanted to give me it i would be willing to have it but if not thats fine as i will primarily use this boat on pine and beaver
RE:Need help choosing a boat
Perfect boat for Pine and Beaver with a trolling motor. For the salt, slap on a 10-15HP motor and have at it! I like the Jon boat.fishingmachine wrote:thanks Kutt i think this would be a good boat for us to take on pine and beaver what do u think and i might put a gas motor on it later

RE:Need help choosing a boat
yeah it is a 12 footer with 3 bench seats and yeah thats what i thought it is light to carry and could be a great boat for pine or beaver
RE:Need help choosing a boat
Yeah. Buy it and then worry about the motor later on. You really can't go wrong with this boat. Just make sure you have a reliable means to transport the boat, if that is with a trailor or not, just make sure before you unload the money in a boat like this - I'm sure you'll make the right choice. Sure beats the Fish Hunter!fishingmachine wrote:yeah it is a 12 footer with 3 bench seats and yeah thats what i thought it is light to carry and could be a great boat for pine or beaver
