The new boat

Post by JT26 » Fri Aug 01, 2008 7:36 pm

Finally, i have something better than a rubber raft to fish out of by myself. Its a older 12ft fiberglass boat.
I got it for $200 on Craigslist. Took a few months of saving up for and looking, but i got one.
It was a pretty good deal, the boat has almost no damage. Its just really dirty, and the middle seat needs to be put back in.
I wont be able to use it for a while though, im gonna be gone till the 15th or so, and then i have football and school when i get back. Football ends in November, so the fishing will have cooled off, but i could still take it to Sammamish for cutts, and Beaver for trips.

I have so much planned for this boat. I want to get rod holders for trolling, and the Cannon mini troll clamp on downriggers. Maybe even little rocket launcher rod holders so i dont have to keep my rods on the ground. I might even get a little 4hp motor in the future. But the main things are the rod holders and the DR.

JT,

Congrats on your new boat. I had one just like it when I was younger and caught lots of fish in it. I hope it leads you to many great memories. I know mine did. Be safe.

It is a good boat. I have one like that. You have the orginal color. Well, really I have 2. I got one for 25.00 from my neighbor. Its been repaired many times. Then I got a boat and trailer for $175.00. Same type of boat but different year. I had problems with the middle seat, also. It hasn't been repaired as much as my first boat. The fiberglass is a little scratchy. I have slowly been fixing it up. I just refinished the oars and varnished the middle seat cover.
They are Sears Gamefishers.

Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Congratulations JT26. Not just for your first boat but for your determination. I remember when you first started looking. And to be so young and able to save money. Very nice, your parents must be proud.
I can't wait to hear the amazing reports your going to create by fishing from that boat.

That is a nice boat JT, we have a similar one too only our center seat is still in and it has a storage compartment in it. We use it to take our grandkids fishing at Bonney Lake and it is real stable. We, like Toni, think the fiberglas is a bit itchy though so if any of you out there have any ideas of something to put on it to stop that please let me know.
I'm sure you are going to have a great time in your new boat.
Be safe and happy fishing.
