First boat build..Finally started!
Whoo Hoo! I have been collecting what I need and generally procastinating for about a year now, but today I finally made my first cuts on my first attempt at building a wooden boat. see: http://www.bateau.com/proddetail.php?prod=FL12
Right now it is just pieces cut on the floor, but in the end it should look something like this.

Marine grade plywood ain't cheap! It's measuere 5x....walk away, stand back and look at things...measure again.. then cut.:compress:

Great Quad! Good luck on her. I'm sure it'll be a fun project.
Just remember, measure twice, cut once......or was that measure once cut twice, then buy more material and start over.
LOL.
Keep us updated on the progress.

I use to build 8' prams with my dad after he built the 16' Glenn-L.That took a number of years. I remembering soaking the wood to form the bends .After dad built it ,it was mine to refinish and paint every year.It was fun projects back then.Good Luck Quad.Enjoy building it.Do we get to see progress reports?
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Right on Quad! That will be a sweet lil boat.

RE:First boat build..Finally started!
You have started on a slippery slope! Boatbuilding is fun, and rewarding, but very time consuming. I've built several over the years and am considering building a 10' pram for small lake fishing. I used to have access to a fully equipped wood workers dream shop but the owner has departed to the great wood shop in the sky. I have the basic tools but they limit me as to what I can build. At my age I'm not going to "invest" in many more power tools.
Have fun on your project!
