TrollMaster or ConTrollKing Remote Kicker Throttle Control ???

Post by Big D » Thu Jan 28, 2010 2:58 am

I'm considering installing a TrollMaster or ConTrollKing remote throttle unit onto my 8hp Yamaha kicker.

If anyone has one of these units installed I sure would appreciate some feed back about your likes or dislikes with whichever unit you have.

Check with MAV186, I believe he has that exact setup. I was impressed with the system and am looking to upgrade my kicker to a similar setup.

Hey Biggie...I had the TrollMaster Pro series installed on my boat when I ordered it. It's paired with my Yama T8 and works awesome. The speed adjustment can be controlled to very exacting increments to match conditions. The only con that I had with it was on some installations, there can be a very small power bleed which comes from a servo controller mounted in the kicker. There is debate, with the manufacture, whether this condition actually exists or not...all I know is that there have been a few complaints but as soon as I installed a dead stop battery switch...the issue went away. Worth it's weight in gold in my opinion.

They work great as long as you don't have your eye on a TR-1. Much better low end speed adjustment than the tiller.
Off topic,
I'm looking for a suitable linear actuator to compliment the trollmaster........ Panther Marine can $uck my...... They get no money from me. Ignorant and rude! I'll leave it at that.

I've got the Trollmaster Pro II on our Hewescraft and it's awesome. No battery drain, no issues, and very fine increment speed adjustment. I had the base model Trollmaster on our other Hewescraft, and it worked fine, but didn't have the precise speed control like the Pro II, nor the momentary full throttle option which is quite handy when in current or wind and you need to make a course correction.
