Is a heat gun the best way to remove out of state numbers on my fiberglass hull?[drool]

Hey Sage,
I just talked to my boat Mechanic and he stated that for taking vinyl numbers off of a fiberglass boat they would use a heat gun or even sometimes a hair dryer. Be careful not to overheat it and damage the gel-coat. If the numbers are painted on you could use EZ Off oven cleaner or lacquer thinner. Make sure and do a small test patch so you don’t damage the gel-coat. He said for aluminum it’s the same process except you don’t have to worry about a gel-coat.

Yea. They are the good ole' store-bought 3" whatevers. I love it here, but Washington State is not user-friendly for moving in. There is nothing easy about changing over anything with a license or a registration. In Oregon you don't need to license or register a boat trailer. Here, however; Oh Heck! Don't get me started...............
