I miss Bird hunting

Post by dicinu » Sun Feb 20, 2011 1:33 pm

I am reaching out to those that hunt birds duck whatever! I would want to go with someone that eats the animals harvested as I do not eat birds of any kind other then Chicken and Turkey. I am not asking to finace the outing but going with someone that will not have an issue taking extra birds home to eat lol. I just always had fun bird hunting mainly been dove hunting but always went with folks that hunted and ate the animals so it was easy to pass them on. I do not kill anything I do not eat nor will anyone I am with not eat! I rather not hunt them if this is the case! I know bird season is still a way off. just thought I would put this out there.

I duck hunt a bit on this side of the Cascades but I usually give them away as I've never cared for the taste of them. When I moved to WA in the early 70's I was most disappointed in how crappy the upland game hunting was. Farmed pheasants that you have to throw in the air to get them to fly. Grouse that you don't need a gun for just a stick. Not a lot of bird habitat on this side of the hills. Canadian geese are nearly tame on the west side. Eastside there are far more opportunities particularly if you hunt Chukar. Great goose hunting, good pheasant & quail hunting if you know the right people or are willing to pay to play.
I spend most of my hunting time now on varmints. Bobcats & crows during season, and coyotes (my favorite) year round. I also go to Montana, Dakotas's, and Wyoming 2-3 times a year to blast alfalfa eating prairie dogs.
Life's short - fish hard!

I hunted chukar in Pahrump Nv just outside of Vegas good bird to hunt dove I mainly hunted in Oklahoma when I was stationed there opening day was free for all no lics but still limits you had to abide by then was 6 I limited out in 1 hr on a buddies property 42 acres with 12 people hunting and wild horses running around
