What Fly?

Going to head out in a couple of hours for Amber Lake, weather permitting. First fly will be a Blood Worm. I have very little patience for chironomids so if nothing happens after a while I'll switch to a Flashback Copper John. If that doesn't work I may start jigging a San Juan Worm. If all else fails, I'll start slow trolling a Wooly Bugger. I doubt if anything will be rising, but just in case I'm bringing a bunch of dries. i.e. Griffith's Gnats & Renegades.
Anyone with experience at Amber is welcome to pitch in with some ideas.

I've had good luck with bionic worms - with an orange bead. When I can't stand staring at a bobber, I'll use a bead head prince nymphs. Those are the two that I've done best with.

If Amber is similar to Quincy Lake, don't forget a dragonfly nymph. I've been using a Drunken Dragon lately and having a good response on it.

Good point Zen. I forgot about a time I sat in my pontoon just watching the damsel fly larvae all around me. I didn't have a good pattern at the time, and I didn't have much luck with an olive bugger.
