Dirrections for pink fishing

Post by gpc » Tue Aug 14, 2007 6:30 pm

I have really wanted to go down and fish 2 places for pinks but dont know how to get to either place. One of the places is the Dash point pier and the other is the Lincoln park in Seattle. I pretty much live right in the middle of both these places, but it is still a little far just to guess and waste gas.

gpc,

I was down at Dash Point Pier the other day. I think it was a Thursday. It was swamped. Real urban combat fishing. If that's not your thing then skip it. Now dash point park is a different matter all together. That might be a little clearer. I was thinking about a run up there some time this week to check it out.

You can go to maps.google.com and search for "dash point pier, tacoma, wa" and find it.

Oh man I was able to get out on the boat today and that is COMBAT fishing. That was straight crazy, I have never seen so many people fishing from shore and the dock was slammed, but it could have been the hot weather. But thanks for the directions, I plan on waking up early and hitting the pier. Oh yeah, while trolling by the pier I saw 2 fish that should have been caught but got off at the surface.

Go right to Humpy Hollow if you got a boat, and instead of fishing in the thick of the crowds, go out into the middle of the channel between Mukilteo and Whidbey Island and you'll do just as good if not better....

I have only heard great stuff about humpy hallow. Wher are the launches around that area? Or how long of a run would it be from Des Moines area in area 11?

I have done really well fishing the shoreline just south of Mukilteo in past years on an incoming tide. When I say shoreline I mean in less than 100' of water.

gpc,

the run from Des Moines to Humpy Hollow would be LONG. We are talking north of Edmonds. Better to trailer up there and launch.

The run from Des Moines to Humpy Hollow would be a long and rough ride. You can drive to the Mukilteo Ferry and the Mukilteo launch is right there. The catch is, the expensive fee to launch (I think its ten bucks or more) and, it will be packed with no where to park by 6 am (this has been my experience) during the height of the humpy season. I would recommend the 10th Street boat launch in Everett. It is located at 10th St. & W. Marine View Dr. in Everett, WA . Their launch web cam is at http://www.portofeverett.com/home/index.asp?page=237 The Everett launch is large enough to handle the hundreds of boats that will be out fishing for pinks and there is enough parking for everyone. The fee is five bucks. There are several docks at the launch and even during the lowest tide, the launch is good. From there at 30 mph it’s about a 15 to 20 minute run to Mukilteo aka humpy hollow. Fish from the ferry, south to the shipwreck with the large flock of boats. The good news is, for the most part humpy hollow is large enough to handle the pressure and when the pinks are in thick, it doesn’t take long to limit, so many early starters are off the water by 8. Sounds like they are still not in there thick so waiting another couple days might be wise. Good luck, see ya there….

You can do well by fishing anywhere around Everett for pinks...No need to stick yourself in the thick of the boats, troll around or in the Snohomish river, you'll do good...

Where do you fish from at the Spokane St. Bridge? Is it a dock or something?

I hear there are a bunch of pinks milling around Ruston Way in Tacoma. Fish between the restaurants.

There is a fishing bridge that goes all the way across the river. You cab fish a bunch of people on the bridge. There is also a parking lot, benches undercover areas and a porta-a-potty. And you just watch the fish swim right under the bridge.
