salmon in the sound from the shore or piers?
I have zero experience in this so sorry if this is a silly question but is there anywhere to fish for salmon, pretty much any species from the shore with any decent success rates? I know that most areas are closed but for example like from kingston ferry area or something like that?

This summer of course is a "Pink" season. You can catch Pinks from Carkeek Park beach just N. of ballard. I am sure you could find success at Golden Gardens as well. I have fished Richmond beach some... but not had success.

Hoodsport!!! All you need is waders. its a GREAT place to fish for salmon!

a few spots off whidbey Island, edmonds is good as well. Coho fishing and pinks can be had off of Point No Point in Kitsap.

I was asking in general but I am always down to drive just about anywhere for some fishing.

When the pinks are in it is crowded off the Dash Point dock. There are people who wade out in the water to catch them. Parking is an issue here as it is very popular.
There is also Browns Point that people wade. There isn't a dock there.
There is the Les Davis Fishing Pier which I don't read a lot about but it use to be good for salmon. I caught several in years past there July thru Sept. My biggest was 19.5 pounds there. But that was 21 years ago.
There is also a small dock at the Pt. Defiance boat house. A couple of years ago my brother caught a 7 pound black mouth there.
