Now that for the most part bass fishing is over, I was looking at doing some pile perch fishing and squid fishing in the sound. Does anyone know any piers/docks in or around the Seattle area where you can catch pile perch or squid? I have tried 3 times over the past 3 years at Edmonds pier and only have caught 1 black rockfish. I only know basics for pile perch like fish the incoming tide and clam necks on a dropshot rig for bait, so any tips would be appreciated. As far as squid I only know to use squid jigs, and fish for them by lights during dark, so any tips on them would be appreciated to. Anythings helpful,
-Logan little

We use to fish the docks at Point Defiance, Old Town Dock in Tacoma (I think it is closed now) and Docktown on Vashon Island. I would add a couple more baits to what you are using. Walk the beach at low tide and turn over the larger rocks. Collect the small rock crabs (1" or less) and any pile worms that you may find. Keep them in a can or bucket with a little water. Both make a very good bait when fished tight the piling.

FYI harvest of unclassfied marine invertebrates is now closed statewide. No more pile worms, shorecrabs, etc. for harvest for bait. Sand shrimp still OK.Jerry H wrote:We use to fish the docks at Point Defiance, Old Town Dock in Tacoma (I think it is closed now) and Docktown on Vashon Island. Easiest thing to do is to just go to the grocery store and buy the cheapest fresh or frozen shrimp you can find. They work as good or better than what you would spend time gathering from the beach.

Good to know. Thank you for bringing me up to date. Logan77 sorry for leading you the wrong direction. It's been a while since we perch fished so I have not checked the reg's. Leason learned.
