South Sound Salt Water Pinks Browns Pt./Redondo/Pt Defiance?

I have fished the pinks from the light house before but haven't targeted them in the boat yet.. Anyone have luck this early? I was hoping to just get on the water and let my wife and kids pitch jigs or buzz bombs. When does the salt start to show fish?

If my memory serves, the earliest I've caught a pink off dash pt is June 30. The earliest I can recall consistent numbers of pinks is mid July. Then normally it'll take off by beginning to mid August.

Might try 2 1/2 or 3in buzzbombs in perch, army truck, pearl white, or chrome and see if you can find a few kings willing to play. The Puyallup fish should be starting to show and they run by dash/browns pt too. They frequently come up in the shallower water chasing firecracker herring.

Thanks Spokey9... I might give it a shot or wait a couple more weeks.. If I don't hit the salt I'll probably head to Riffe and see how bad the launch is

No problem mymannin. Check the creel reports for the sound if you really wanna know when to start targeting pinks, if you watch as the numbers increase you can figure out when it's time to go get them

Thats excellent advice, but I find the recent creel reports mostly depressing :)

Probly won't see a forecast map again like last pink run. It kinda blew up in the face after the smaller size and lower than expected numbers last time. That map was more of a sales driver to them than a useful tool for anglers because we've always had that info by watching creel reports and with the lower forecast expectations the pinks aren't gonna be the money maker they were the past few runs.

Hey guys. Any word on if the pinks are showing up yet around Dash Point yet? I love taking my son out there and catching a few. Thanks!

Fished Browns Point by boat on Tuesday. Couple guys fishing off the beach and some boats all looking. No pinks yet, but they are getting a few resident silvers (3 to 5 lbs) off the beach and boats throwing silver cast masters and like hardware. I have heard that a couple of pinks were caught off Dalco. Should be showing up soon.

Any pinks at all yet? Looking to get down to Dash Point next week possible and try for a few. I heard the coho fishing is heating up too! Any new reports?

Also, has anyone had any luck at Redondo Docks? Looks decent.

I've only had luck at Brown's point fishing shallower than most. Fat and long spoons work there for coho

The Pinks Map above is still blank. There are some starting to show up in the creel reports for Sekiu and a few scattered in the north sound. I dont see many listed for area 11 or south yet.

My son and I went down last night for a few hours, Hit up dash point nothing and no fish caught. Went over to Tacoma waterfront side and fished for an hour with no luck. Sounds like it is a morning bite!

Or maybe they are too close to shore for the boat guys to get into them?
