A funny story..

Post by fishaholictaz » Sun Dec 13, 2009 11:17 am

So my friend and I met a member of a new forum I joined to do some trout fishing. Not long after setting up we were getting a good number of bites and having a good time. I was away from one of my poles about 20 yards when I start getting a bite, and before I know it my pole is through the hole..... I ran up there just as my pole was getting below the ice. Being that I am not the smartest creature god put on this earth I plunged my arm in the hole after the pole :pale:
After missing the pole I stripped off all 3 layers of shirts I just soaked and traded for a sweater and a coat.:rambo:
Well after changing we were drilling another hole in the direction my pole went when 1 of my friends said he saw my pole through the hole it just disappeared through. So we drilled a hole right over the pole and I was able to retrieve it. Unfortunately there was not a fish still attached.. I spent the rest of the day wishing I would have thought before I plunged :-"

Brrr. Maybe it is good that the fish got unhooked so you could get your pole back. So did you end up with a sheet of ice on your arm? or did you have something to dry it off good before it froze? Oh and did you end up with any fish?

I stripped it all off asap. The shirt sleeves froze stiff within 5 minutes. We ended up with 5 fish 14-17".

Good thing the hole wasn't bigger (or you - smaller).#-o
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

I did that over a dollar bill I found in the lake. Snagged it with my hook and put it on my tackle box to dry a bit. My son ( 5 at the time) thought it would be funny to toss it back in while my back was turned. When I was what was happening, I about dove thru the railing and ended up soaking my right arm up to the shoulder, coat and all. Spent the next few hours fishing in a wet t-shirt.

All over a dollar that was found in the first place.#-o

This was an ice rod I converted from my son's first trout pole that broke this summer. (It also had my best micro spinning reel on it too) But I sure wasn't wearing just a t-shirt:-"

Good story first good laugh of the day.....
