Thought I would start a thread about homemade jigs. I purchase most my my jig in store and online. All that I have really done to customize them was a few jigs that I put nail polish on(it works good)to make them darker.
What are the rest of you doing?

RE:Homemade ice fishing jigs
I've been looking at making my own jigs for a while now. There are a few molds that I would like to try, but I'm most interested in pouring ice fishing jigs. Do either of you know where I could find a teardrop style mold? Anything similar in size 8-12 would work for what I'm fishing.
Also, do you recommend powder paint over the liquid? I was going to do this then use a paint pen to do the small details. I heard if you bake them at a low temp after they dry, that the paint gets really hard. Any thoughts?

I also have been wanting to try powder paint. I have read on it and yes you want to bake it after they dry.

The powder coat works great but it takes a bit of practise to get it right.
Heat the jig and dip it in the paint. Make sure you get a nice even coat.
To thick and you end up with a goober, to thin and the lead shows through.
Hang them on a rack and bake at 250.
As for the tear drop mold, check out Do-It Molds.com.
