Gypsy Queen?

Post by kenimes » Wed Jul 27, 2011 5:03 pm

Think it was a spoon, similar to a Red Devil. Anyone remember, or know where to find one?

Thanks!

Thanks Amx! King, not Queen- doh!!

Remember it being one of my fathers favorites, but they quit making them in the 60's. I lost his very last one when I was a teenager. Would love to replace it, but 'Gypsy Queen' was coming up with nothing on Google.

And thanks for the link to purchase, but I am looking for one in the red/white colors- like the Red Devil. If they still can be found.

Remember that thing working while trolling, or tossing it in the river, jigging- many ways to fish it.

Thanks again!!

There was an article where some 'sports/fishing reporter' wrote about a fishing trip, and mentioned that he lost an 'old gold gypsy queen' lure, so maybe there are queens also, but I didn't see any listed in the searches.

Yea, I could have sworn it was Queen- but King is coming up with some hits, and Queen was not, so I will have to check eBay.

Maybe in my tackle box.

I bought a ton of stuff at a garage sale last summer. Real old tackle, 60's-70's, there was tons of gold spoons various types. I will look in there when I get home.
I realize you are in N. seattle, I am also. I'll let you know.

Cool, appreciate that! I am near the Oak Tree cinema, not far from Carkeek at all.

Been to a few yard sales myself this year, in search of some oldies but goodies. No luck thus far.

I like copper colored spoons. I used a Lil Jewel for years on Lk Wa.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Funny this thread came up. I have a Gypsy King that I inherited from my Dad. It has a naked lady engraved on one side.

You guys really make me feel old. I have all these spoons. I have the Gypsies,Lil Cleos,Lil Jewels,Crocodiles,Swedish Pimples,Canadian Wonders and Pearl Wobblers. The Pearl Wobbler is made from mother of pearl with one red dot in the middle.I use them all. I also collect promo spoons and plugs. I have a Joe Camel bass plug, a Crocodile spoon with Obertos on it. I have a top water plug from Conway Trucking.Im a fishing gear Hoarder. LOl. I have all my gear from my childhood. Even my old broken smelly creel.Hook de-gorgers and of course my own invention of the Ralphie Shrimping tool.I put a sandshrimp on the hook without breaking the shrimp body. To me this stuff is priceless. Most would call it crap. One mans junk is anothers mans treasure.

racfish, you refreshed my memory. My "Naked Lady" spoon isn't a Gypsy, it's a Lil Cleo. The longer my teeth get, the shorter my memory gets.

Lucky you. Im losing my memory and my teeth at the same time. The hair went first.
Ive brought this up before. If you want a fascinating trip down memory lane go to Lincs Takle and Honda. They are on Rainier Ave So. and South Main St. They have lures reels and gear from way back. The store is a museum. Its been a family owned business for like 70 years at least. Its well worth it to go just to look.
