A couple of questions if you don't mind,
1) How did you record the audio for your video?
2) I've got a Garmin eTrex Vista Cx that's very simular to the one that you show in your video. How did you load up the Chelan Hotspots to it?
Thank you,
The audio is recorded off my camcorder, one of which has a directional boom attachment. So if you're viewing the go-pro footage and hearing vocals, it's from the camcorder. I also have a field recorder for voice overs, like the part at the end about the hot spot.

To load the lake Chelan hotspots, I go to the Members Tab on the menu list, then "GPS Export", then search box and enter "Chelan". Now click the round "export"icon for lake Chelan, and save the .gpx file to your desk top, or wherever you want it.

ON my Garmin, I have software that, when my handheld is connected, allows the computer to recognize the handheld as a hardrive (Garmin BaseCamp). I can just drag the .gpx file on to it and all the hotspots will be there. Once in, I can also use the software to delete or highlight or rename hotspots. Generally, I use hotspots to give me an initial idea of where to start if I'm new to a fishery and there isn't anyone around. Last year on Merwin it was hugely helpful.

One of the things Aaron and I have discussed is the ability to filter the hotspots for species. I have no idea if that's possible, it's his thing, not mine. But we definitely would like to develop that option. When the phone app comes out (no date yet!) I do believe that the hotspots will be automatically there for the Premium Members.

Mike,
The Garmin is loaded and ready to fire.
I'm going to start looking for a wireless mic that's not going to brake the bank.
Thank you,

Thank you,
Does your camcorder have a socket for adding a boom on it? Or are you talking about a GoPro?

We tried a wireless mic attachment for our camcorder. It had some issues, mainly, recording two people in conversation - the person with the mic, OK, the other person, faint and distant.

Here's a link to a nice field recorder if that's all you really need:

Hey Mike,
Looking at my camcorder I find no input jack so until I can save up for a new camera with said jack I won’t be using that for my audio. After looking into wireless microphones, I agree with you that they won’t be suitable for my needs. I could put a microphone onto one of my gopros so that might be an option. That leaves me with using a field recorder that until you posted the link, I never knew existed. How hard is it to sync the audio with the video and not make it look as though I producing badly dubbed Japanese movies?

LOL, that's the challenging part! It's a matter of fine tuning by zooming in on the video and audio track and syncing them. Do mine look like badly dubbed movies? [-o<

So, if that's how you've been doing them, you're doing a great job. Your videos as has been said before "Are Great" and I really enjoy watching them. I've watched the Chelan video probably ten or fifteen times learning about the fishery but mostly trying to figure out you editing tricks. So, are you using the remote recorder that you posted the link about? If so, I'll be picking one up very soon.
Thanks again and I look forward to many more of your videos.

the field recorder was only used for the voice over about the hotspots. In the view looking back at the boat the audio came from my camcorder which was running at the same time as the Go Pro. I synced the audio from the go pro with the camcorder and once that was done I muted the GoPro's audio. I was then able to cut back and forth and the audio was all matched up between the two camcorders.

By "sync" I had the two videos loaded into Premier Pro, each on it's own track, and just "nudged" them until the audio matched up. Once matched up, muted the Go Pro video. Hope that makes sense.

WOW! That sounds like a lot of work.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

It took me about 5 hrs to produce this video, usually it's a 2-3 hr process. I have fun doing it, just like I have fun fishing. :)

Mike,
Thank you so much for the video editing info. It will really help me get a jump on my videos.
Please allow me get this thread back on track. How far were you running your set backs from your downrigger balls?

back to kokanee fishing. =D>

set backs were 25 pulls on the deep line, 15 pulls on the upper line (which was 15 ft higher up on the DR).

I'll be experimenting my next trip with minimal set back on the deep line as I try to get some of these koks on the underwater GoPro. Be interesting to see if they are DR shy or if we'll have success. I'd love to get some kokanee on video hitting my lures.
