Only legal here when you use the bait from the lake you are wally fishing. I don't know about the regulations where you live in Canada.

I know about using only bait from the lake you are fishing. But is it realistic for us in WA to do? How do you legally catch the minnows? In the south (only place I have used minnows) they use a casting net. Would something like a herring jig work and or be legal?
Then wouldn't you have to ID each minnow to know you are not using a baby bass or walleye?
If it can be done, I would love to try it.

I don't , never tried it. I refuse to use live bait. Well, other than angle worms that is. [laugh] And I haven't used them since catfish fishing in Ill. back in ' 72.

we can catch them ourselves or buy them from a local fishing store. You get a 3 day permit for live minnows
