Rogue River

Post by Dave M » Sat Jun 20, 2015 8:43 pm

Does anyone know when the runs are on the Rogue? I am looking between now and October, my sister has a private access to part of the river near Grants Pass that her friends tell her is a great hole. Any info would be appreciated.

Sept. should be good maybe late Aug. banking is tough. Plugs from the diftboat now that's catching, maybe a sand shrimp and diver.

Thanks. The access is not far froma public launch, just the other side of the river. There is a pretty good size sand/gravel bar. Drift boat would be great but not in the budget. May look into a guide for the first day, then hit the bank.

I am headed down that way in 2 weeks, debating if it's worth the hastle of dragging my gear, finding a spot on a new river and non resident license.

If you dont end up fishing I highly recomend the jetboat tour out of Grants Pass. Great ride and the driver will talk alot about the river. I did it several years ago, just wasnt into fishing then so it meant little to me at the time.

I did that jet boat tour last time i was down that way. it was a blast but it was such a tease i went in early Sept when salmon season was in full swing. I was actually debating do the trip again because was so much fun.

Got a chance to check out the access point. Actually pretty good bank access. It is not far from Hellsgate. She has been told that September is good.

Missed my Sept trip thanks to vehicle issues. Headed down this weekend, supposed to be ok for steelhead and possibly silvers. Where the access is, is now closed for kings, but I can go down river about 50 yards and it is open for kings. Kind of crazy. Hopefully will have a good report come monday.
