Anybody been out on the Mighty P.O. ??

Post by Fish-N-Fool » Sat Dec 17, 2011 2:28 pm

Anyone been out Pike fishin in the PO lately?
I fished it last year at this time and did very well with smelt under a slip bobber and casting swimbaits. I got fish on both the R2S Perch and Rainbow colored S-wavers in both 120mm and 168mm sizes and I got some fish on The Basstrix 6" Lennier herring color which looks a lot like a SM bass
I have not been out so far this winter but plan on making a trip next week sometime.
Don't think you can't catch them this time of year because the bite is really quite good. I had a some 4, 5, and 6 fish days last winter and you seam to get about 5 bites for every fish you hook fishing the smelt. I set the hook early though, so I don't gut hook any fish. That way I can release the bigger fish or all of them if I want. Let me know if you've been fishing it and I will post a report after I do.
Tnx Fish-N-Fool
