New to the INW, lookin to go Pike Fishing

Post by ckepka » Mon Apr 14, 2014 10:02 pm

Hello all,
My buddy and I, AF guys, are new to the INW for about a year now. We want to get into Pike and Muskie fishing. Any tips or places or type of tackle to use? Live in Spokane. So anything w/in about 2.5 hr radius is what were looking for.

Thanks!

You can still find a few pike in Washington in the Pend Oreille River but they are a little tough to locate. After all the gill netting that went on up there, I have only been back once in the last 2 seasons. We only managed 3 skinny little pike that day but the small mouth fishing was great so it saved the day. Your buddy's boat would do fine there. Otherwise your best bet would be to go to Idaho and fish CoeurDalene Lake and the ajoining chain lakes.

You will need a Idaho license but it will be your best shot at Pike.
There have been rumors of small Pike taken below the falls in Spokane and there was one big fish caught at river front park awhile back.

By the way, welcome to Washington lakes and Washington State and thank you and your buddy for your service.
