Has anyone been out on the PO river pike fishing

Post by Fish-N-Fool » Sat Apr 28, 2012 7:17 pm

Has anyone been out on the PO river pike fishing in the last week or so?I'm just wonder just how bad it is now that water temps are starting to warm up. I'd like to try it here soon and hope to still find some fish to catch. So if anyone has been out I'd like to hear about, even if it was ugly.

Ugly didn't describe the outing Mark K and I had on saturday. We fished for about 10 hours and managed 2 pike that were 12-16" and 2 small bass. One was about a pound and the other about a pound an a half. They all came on spoons. Water temps were I believe in the high 50's to mid 60's. The slough we got the fish in had fairly good clarity, all the rest was muddy or murky. Your an Idaho guy. Go catch your pike there. Conner and his gang of fish killers have destroyed the POR.

That's really sad to hear. I may still try the river on the south end as I think they only ran nets up there one time. I was out pike fishing at Hayden on Sunday, didn't get any pike so we switched to bass and got a few good ones. Got 6 total between us, with the biggest at 3 1/2 lb.water temps there were 50 in the main lake and low 52's in the backwaters, Still a little cold for bass or the pike.

Is that main river temps or back water? Hopefully this nice weather over the week will warm things up and we can really get a good idea of how tough fishing will be after all this netting.

I went out fishing Saturday afternoon and we caught 2 bass. We had one follow and that was it. Sadly I do not see any reason to go back to the POR river for pike fishing anytime soon.
