Secret Lake Pike Posts
For all of us that love to catch pike in the state of Washington, I would like to suggest that we make posts related to catching pike inside our state lines very generic. For example, I went fishing and I caught some pike. I used this type of lure and presentation, and in this depth of water, but I think all Washington State caught pike should be listed as being caught in a "Secret Lake". I'm not going to mention any particular lake name, but there have been a few more pike being caught there lately. If people continue to have success there and post about it, before we know it, the ememies of the pike will be covering the lake with their gill nets, and they too will dissapear.
I have already heard that there are a lot of bass fishermen that catch pike in this lake, then slit their guts open and throw them back in the lake. I have been told they are not concerned about the pike hurting the bass fishery. They are concerned that a growing pike fishery will attract the attention of the WDFW, and the gill nets will come. Then the bass and crappie fishery will suffer thae same as it has at the PendOreille river.
SO, I say lets post about catching them in a secret lake and if we want to communicate about our success further, we do it through email or pm's. Thats personal message, not PMS (LOL)

Let's hope this fishery didn't happen because of bucket biologists. Natural expansion of the species is one thing but bucket biology is illegal.
Having said that I'd like to fish for pike again. I moved to Moses Lake just in time to read about the POR being netted out. Dang... I was drooling over that fishery.

I hear you man about the POR....I was hoping to have yearly or biyearly trips up there fishing for pike, but....ovell.zen leecher wrote:Let's hope this fishery didn't happen because of bucket biologists. Natural expansion of the species is one thing but bucket biology is illegal.

Re: Secret Lake Pike Posts
The lake I'm referring to but not naming, is not a product of bucket biology. The fish make their way there naturally. However, the body of water they are coming from was a product of bucket biology many, many years ago. Or so say the experts.

It's in the Spokane paper. Guess I should dust the boat off and rig up some heavy mono leaders.

Ya I just read that little blurb in the spokesman. With comments like "They're taking over" it's only a matter of time before the gill netting begins. ![ThumbDown [thumbdn]](./images/smilies/msp_thumbdn.gif)

Well Pike Masters!
Sounds like we need to get a Spring Trip in before the nets get to em then! If you say this is real, then we all know that it won't be long before the Eradication of Pike will begin and then an entire lake will suffer all the way around. This state kills me with the knee jerk reactions, I just wish they would look around and see how other states are handling the Pike situation and realize that it can work if they just do a little homework!
Well good thing, hopefully with a little effort from those wanting to step up and help out with PIKE Inc we can start to change the mentality and help Washington Anglers realize this fish is no where near as harmful as they are advertised! As we all know other areas nationwide have Pike issues, but these fisheries have figured it out and are doing just fine!
Washington State better hope and pray that the snake head problem that they are having back on the East Coast doesn't carry this way, then they really will have bigger problems to deal with. I personally hope that this never happens because I have seen what it does to a fishery back in Florida and up the East Coast and it has decimated lakes in those regions. These fish will literally eat anything within its own size no matter what it is and they breed twice as bad as Pike! Here are a few video's of what a snake head does to its lunch! If this doesn't concern you, then you don't have a pulse!
