Age block on members Profile page.

Post by Big D » Fri Jan 01, 2010 3:55 am

Hey Mike/Aaron,
I was thinking about inviting someone from the Forum to go fishing Rufus Woods with me in my boat and I stopped short because I was unsure of the person’s age. I enjoy fishing with folks that are in my peer group (Age 51) and having an age block on the profile page could speed things up and help me to avoid asking the embarrassing question "Hey...how old are you?"
Anyway…Just a thought.

Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.

I'm not sure if this is a feature of this particular Forum software. I'll have to ask Aaron. Age isn't a required field to enter for membership.

I do understand your concerns.

I understand your concerns as well. Good grief, ya might ask someone to fish and some old geezer about 80 years old shows up. That would be horrible!

Ya, glad I fish by myself all the time, can't be having no kid in my boat.

How does that saying go? "Take a kid fishing today", or something like that. Image

bunch of comedians on WL.com. :dwarf:

there is a legitimate concern when it comes to the minors that visit the site. Hopefully the parents of said minors have taught them not to be giving private information out on a public forum, or in private PMs.

I have 5 kids of my own. I enjoy fishing with some other adults at times. I dont care if they are 18 or 90 as long as I dont have to tie up there leaders and stuff lol. Thats something I have to teach my boy Dylan so I dont have to tie his any more.
More fish please!

Nope, just my fishing partner for over 30 years has been my wife, and she can usually put fish in the boat.:eye:

Yeah, that old slogan, "Take a kid fishing" has been around for eons. Nobody ever hears of the slogan, "Take a geezer fishing."#-o

Thanks for the kind words Blufin Loui. Even our Supreme Overlord, Mr. Mike Carey has been known to fish with an 80 year old geezer. See his video on Kitsap lake. The shaky, senile old geezer, even managed to shoot a little video of Mike's nice 3 1/2 pound "Frog Bass."

WOW...Talk about a thread taking a turn...

In light of all of the wife comments...Now I know for sure I don't want to be the one to ask someones age...
