Managing your inbox/PM's sent/ Outbox, etc.

Post by The Quadfather » Mon Oct 10, 2011 4:38 pm

So I am having a struggle with how to manage the PM's in my various folders. Don't know if it's a bug, or if anyone else has this problem....
#1. When I get a PM, I don't get an email message anymore telling me I have a PM.

#2 The inbox is self explanatory... The Sent Mail box should show my "Sent" mail. It stays empty though. What about when I do a "Reply" on a PM sent by a member. It is not being shown in my sent box.

3. I now have an "Outbox" it appears to show PM's that I have done replies to. So does outbox mean that something was sent in reply from me... or does it show originating "Sent" mails by me?
Having a hard time wrapping my head around the new stuff. Is there a thread that is addressing all the changes one at a time, maybe I have missed that one. I do dig the new emoticons though. Perty nice! :sunny: [thumbup] [wink]

My outbox shows the PM I sent to someone. It was NOT sent in reply to anything he sent me.

My 'sent messages' show 5 PMs I sent to a couple people, they are all in responce to a PM someone originaly sent to me, or I originaly sent them.

I beleive the outbox is msgs sent but not read. They remain there until someone reads them... and I have sent messages and replies to messages in my sent box. I created another box called Read messages that I move things to once I have read them in my inbox.

This is correct. A couple other forums I frequent use this version of forum software and that's exactly how it works. [cool]

I just created an Administration PM box and a Warned Member PM box. That way it is easy to pull up the PM sent.

I sent a PM to myself, opened it and it did not show up in the Outbox. In my email programs, the Out Box is for messages written, but not sent. Kind of like an office out box, in that it hasn't been delivered yet. I'll do some more playing around.
