Logging out of WaLakes

Post by Gringo Pescador » Tue Oct 18, 2011 11:59 am

Aaron - bug or no?

Since I always want to login to the site, I have the forum login URL (http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ucp.php?mode=login) bookmarked.

I log in there
Cruise the forums
Then go to check out reports and other stuff (via the "Return to WashingtonLakes.com" hotlink at the top of the page.
Once done there, I click "LOGOFF" expecting to be logged out of the whole works - but it is not so
It puts me back into the forum, where I have to click "Logout" to actually log completely out of WaLakes.

Shouldn't both "LOGOFF" and "Logout" get you out of the whole works?

Yes.. it should. I'm working on a big update that I hope to have out this week and I'll include that fix in it.

I havent been in here because: When I leave here to go to work and try logging on I have to type in a G-d awfull long password that takes me 5 minutes to type out. Quite frankly its not worth the time and effort. Time is somewhat precious. I like to read and post easily. This site has passwords 20 digits long with numbers ,caps squigglies. I like this site but Im not gonna do this password everytime. Just not worth the aggrivation. It might be my norton or something else. Why cant I have a 5 digit password? You all act like this is a top secret site with these stupidly long passwords. Im done ranting now.

Change the password to what you want. There is a feature in your profile pages to do that.

I have to admit my knowledge of the computer world is not so good. Again I had to type in my password just 10 minutes after closing the WA Lakes window. For me its frustrating doing this. I am a one finger typer. I still look to find letters numbers and the squigglies. I called my computer tech in to see if its a problem on my end of it. I cant say that Ive been to my profile area in quite some time. Probably in 2007. I can read all the posts but I cant answer them. I'll just leave it that way for now. Ifin y'all dont see me Im like that big catfish just lurking around.. Thanks boss for the
speedy reply.

I even added a link to the right page in the menu for that. Up top, flick on Forum, Account Settings. That's where you change your password. And for what it's worth, I'm using Google Chrome, and I haven't had to type my password in at all since the upgrade. I chose to have it saved, and it keeps me logged in all the time. And, if the forum DID lose my cookie, Chrome has it cached and types it in for me (so does FF and IE for that matter).

Last time I lost my cookies was on a charterboat last year out of Neah Bay. Thanks Aaron and AMX for the help. I guess thats why you guys make those 7 digit incomes from Mike and this site =D> I did that. Lets hope it works. Thanks again Gents.

You're welcome. I seem to be missing most of those digits though. I'm going to have to go talk to Mike about where he's stashing them.

You just need to clear your browser's cache and then in the login screen enter your user name, password, select the " Log me on automatically each visit" checkbox and then click the login button. This should allow your browser to log you in automatically whenever you visit the site with your computer.

I believe that you can clear your browser's cache by opening your browser and hitting CTRL and F5 at the same time.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO !!!! It works again. OY It happened again. Even after it said my password was changed correctly it would not let me use my own password. I had to reuse the 13 digit password that I recieved last week. If it wasnt for Bad Luck Id have no luck.... hehehe [cursing]

I got rid of norton after it screwed over my computer. Didn't have this good computer for 5 1/2 months as I couldn't afford to get it fixed. After having it fixed I had them put on AVG Free.

At my home computer I have Comcast which gives a free Norton service. Minimal protection but better then nothing besides its free. At work I have the Norton you pay for with the added bells and whistles. At Home I have the choice ,where at work I dont have a choice on what to use. I just dont go to sites where viruses are given. I look at Wa lakes, and Lottery mostly LOL..I dont have time at home to do much on the computer.

I think you can also select an option to always stay logged in, and/or have windows remember your password and it automatically fills it in. That's how it works for me anyway.

Not for me Mike. My work computer is so strange. It wont remember passwods or usernames at all. At home no problem Something with Norton. Seeing I dont own the business I dont make calls on operating systems.I can only enjoy this site from home. I tried to change my password here and it would not accept it.Ive tried it 3 times now.
