Adds... are they all right for the site?

Personally, Im getting pounded from all side on "THE ISSUES". When I come to WaLakes Im feeling like relaxing. Fishing is relaxing. BUT, I see a DINO add (admitted, im voting for him). maybe he supports us and maybe he dont.. not the point.
Personally I would rather not see political adds.
Sell me a Ford, Sell me a ranger.. dont sell me politics.
Any thoughts?
Sorry Mike, the site rocks. Hate politics tho. I know they pay but.. it stresses me out.

I'm ignoring all ads, even change the tv channel when they come on. That's about all a person can do these days.

Amen, I hate all the commercials, thank God for the DVR!!! I agree, keep the politics off the site, I would rather see adds from local tackle shops.

Two posts and two opposite POVs. I can appreciate your feelings. I am now throwing out at LEAST 1/2 dozen fliers per day from my mailbox. It's nuts. If I had thought about it sooner I would have saved them all up and strung them on a piece on line for Halloween - now that's SCARY!
Anyway, I just noticed we are also getting political ads from google. First, a little background. We have two ad companies that serve ads to us, OutsideHub and Google. They serve ads to us independantly and we don't have control over what comes our way, other than we do have the ability to stop an ad if it is not appropriate for the site once we see it.
As to the political ads, I was surprised to see them start to show up on the site, wasn't expecting it. So far there's only been a few complaints. I imagine there will be a few more with this thread getting posted. That's OK, we want to know members opinions. I'll be honest and say that unless we got slammed with unhappy readers we'll just ride it out and be glad like everyone else when it's done. I'm still hoping to see some Patty Murray ads, I am getting tired of seeing Dino's face too.
PS, here's something ironic - Google serves types of ads based on the content of the page and guess what? This thread is now getting political ads from Google. You can run but ya can't hide from Google. :jocolor:

Oh ya, it is spelled 'ad' & 'ads'.

But it 'adds' to the frustration of getting fishing news.

The good news is that the election is next Tuesday.
The bad news is that next Wednesday is the official kickoff for the 2012 Presidential Campaign. Before the confetti on the floor is swept up, there will be talk and plans being laid in place for the next "Big Election".
This years campaign has been the worst that I have ever seen. There are so many negative, sometimes vile ads, it is unbelievable. The media is spinning these so much, the voter is dizzy. Many of the ads, both left and right, have about a 10% truth value and 90% "stretched facts".
The bombardment of these ads is getting on everyone's nerves. It will only get worse because of this years Supreme Court decision on campaign financing. You think it is bad now......just wait.
I have been spending a lot of time tying flies and working around the house instead of watching T.V. I'll vote, mail in my ballot and live with the results.

And I'll complain regardless who wins, as they ALL seem to have their own problems, and they ALL have issues that conflict with my viewpoints.

it's kind of sad that the overall voting trend continues to drop. I don't have the exact stats at my finger tips, but I know national the US is way down in voter turnout compared to the 50s. It would make for a good conversation just to talk about why this is occuring. The sacrifices of the Greatest Generation seem to be more and more forgotten. Very sad.

I agree Mike, but can understand why some people feel that way. If you consistently vote based on your conscience and belief, and your "voice" is consistently drowned out, would you continue to vote? I do because it's my
right, not a privilege. However, I do grow tired of feeling as though my vote doesn't matter due to the "I-5 corridor voting block".

Had to get this off my 'good' computer that went bad last month. Only took an hour with 3 extra 'folders' showing up that wouldn't get deleted so I could do it again, and again.

Took more time to delete all the folders than it took to copy from the other computer.

Five more days, sigh.
The Rossi ad is Outside Hub, the Tax Ad is Google AdSense. What I find humorous in all this, and my wife agrees, is who is going to click on these ads willingly? Why would you want to??? I guess it's "brand recognition" but really, at some point you get consumer burnout. I guess each side figures they have to have the last word. Kinda like life on the forums, ha ha!
We voted last week and I think with mail-in ballots that's the case for more and more people. Come on Nov 4th!

Whoever makes it in no matter what promises are made will end up just as bad as the one that is in there. Once corporate greed and lavish vacations kick in they will be just like the last one and one before that. Its the way it always is. Im such a good pesimist when it comes to politics.Hahaha If they werent crooks before they get in office they soon will be.
