Multiple Email Alerts

Post by Marc Martyn » Wed Apr 20, 2011 4:23 am

Why some many email alerts for topic comments? Every time a post is made on a topic I am watching, I get 4 emails for each post.

It did that at first, when we changed. It had stopped. I am getting them again, too. I have had up to 5 per topic reply. Now I just get 3 per.

I get 2 - 4 e-mail alerts every time I get a PM as well. I don't have topic notifications turned on.

I'm turning my notification off until this is resolved. The other day I opened my email and has about 2 dozen notifications.

It is down to 2 emails per posting on forums for me now. Any time frame as to when it will be fixed?

I can't say that it will EVER get fixed. I get no replies from the forum support people (it's community driven support) and I have no idea why its happening... so... I don't know.

You know that is interesting. Since it was up to 5 then went away then came back at 4 then 3 now 2...maybe it will fix itself? Since you haven't done any thing.

I'm getting 3-4 responses for each notification/PM. It's a little overwhelming if I'm particularly active on a given day.

So, at 4 o clock in the morning, it hits me: could your multiple notifications be from edits of the text or attaching pictures? Sometimes I edit a lot for either clarification or typos.

That Grandpa duck was a few years ago, his kids just started bringing their ducklings into the back yard ponds. This cold weather has the ducklings dropping like flys sadly. One set went from 7 to 4 another went from 12 to 1 duckling left.

That has happened in the past but this is EVERY post or PM. But this morning I find just 3 emails. One email for each post. NO DUPLICATES this morning!

Just recently I started getting two to four e-mail alerts for PM's sent to me as well.
