Options at the bottom left of the screen

Mike, I click on the box that says "Watch this topic and receive notifications of activity via e-mail?" but I never get any notifications.
Is it something I am doing wrong?

I have noticed that I get a notification about 6-8 hours after it is posted.

I'm getting notifications on this post because I subscribed to it. Mikes post was posted 8:21am, and I got a notification at 10:45. I don't think it's supposed to be instant, I think it goes out in batches. Either way, if you're not getting a notification, you have something configured wrong, or your email provider is blocking it and/or sending it to spam.

I have the bottom selection made that states:
Notification for topics or forums you've selectively watched (listed below)
See what yours are and go from there.
