Northwest Fishing Reports

So along with the recent (a few months back) the sight did a complete make over. Took some getting used to, as one can anticipate when playing with anything new and hopefully improved. But lately, I have periodically gotten in my personal email account. Topic notification for topics I have not "recently watched. I know this because the latest is for the topic "Sex Ads" in the Idaho reporting area. And the reply date was 1/26/12. That is 4 months ago, give or take a few days.

That is not the only "notification because you are watching the topic" notice that does not pertain to the "topic I am not watching" !!!!!!!!. Not sure what is going wrong with the "spy bots" but leting Mike and Aaron know, and curious if anyone else has received the same notice in a stale or inaccurate fashion?

Sometimes a spammer will come on and reply to an old thread. That will activate your 'notification process' again for that thread. But a mod or admin will delete the spam, but it's too late, YOUR 'notification process' was started and you'll get the notice anyway, no way to stop that for THAT/THOSE thread/s.

What I did was go into my profile and uncheck the 'notification process' so I don't get those e-mails. That'll work for new stuff, but sometimes the old stuff doesn't get unchecked and you might get a notification now and then until it all catches up.

Also, on each and every thread look to the bottom left and be sure the box is unchecked for recieving the e-mail, unless you WANT it, for any given thread. And do that for every thread you get the e-mail for if you don't want to be notified for that thread. Takes a little while, but it'll clear out sooner or later, then it'll work the way it was intended to work, for only those threads YOU check as you read that thread and want to be advised of a reply by checking the box.

Looks like this at the bottom left, to the left of 'subscribe' there will be a check.

to the left of 'unsubscribe' there will be an x. To unsubscribe, click on the word, and it'll change to a check and the word 'subscribe'. Then you won't get the e-mails.

In your 'user control panel' go to 'board preferences' and go down to 'Notify me upon replies by default: Yes No ' and click on 'no'.
